2 office spaces to rent in Bank at The Sandbox Workspace

A private office at Bank runs to £839 per desk per month, over a third above the £517 London median, from live listings as at September 2026. That is the price of the centre of the Square Mile: the Bank of England, the Royal Exchange and the streets immediately around them. Rates, service charge, utilities, internet, furniture, cleaning, security and reception are all included. It is cheaper than Liverpool Street and Moorgate to the north, which surprises people who assume Bank is the City's most expensive point.

Parking, first of all, because there effectively is none here and it is not worth planning around. After that the exclusions are the ordinary pair: meeting room time past your allowance, and printing above a fair-use limit. The more useful question concerns the buildings. The stock around Bank is a mixture of Victorian and Edwardian banking halls, mid-century blocks and a small amount of new construction, and the differences between them are substantial. Period buildings here can be magnificent and impractical in equal measure: small lifts, awkward floor plates, retro-fitted cooling. If your team needs to sit together in one open space, check that the floor can actually accommodate it.

A fortnight to three weeks. Serviced offices arrive furnished and connected, so the sequence is a viewing, a licence agreement and a deposit, which in the City tends to be two months rather than one. There is decent depth: 2 listings across 61 desks and twenty-three operators. Managed space fitted to your own design takes eight weeks or so. If you want one of the period banking halls specifically, allow considerably longer, because there are few of them and they rarely come free.

Most of them, in fact. Aldgate at £541 per desk is the cheapest way into the Square Mile and about twelve minutes' walk. Fleet Street at £583 and Cannon Street at £697 sit between the two. Fenchurch Street is £739, barely below Bank. The spread across the City is wide enough that moving five minutes in the right direction saves real money, and the whole of it is walkable, so it is worth viewing across several rather than fixing on one junction.

Exceptional for reaching the rest of London, less so for arriving from outside it. Bank station is nearest to 80% of what we list here and carries the Central, Northern, Waterloo and City and DLR lines, with Monument attached for the Circle and District. That combination reaches Canary Wharf, Waterloo, Liverpool Street, Oxford Circus and Stratford directly. What it lacks is a mainline terminus: for services from outside London you are walking five to ten minutes to Liverpool Street, Fenchurch Street or Cannon Street. The station itself is large, deep and busy at peak, so allow more time between platform and street than the map suggests.

Twenty-three, mostly the established serviced brands with a handful of premium independents in the period buildings. The tenant mix is what you would expect at the centre of the Square Mile: finance, insurance, law, accountancy and the professional services that support them, with a growing number of financial technology businesses attracted by the address. Standards are high and fairly consistent, and reception and meeting provision assume client visits. If you want informality or exposed brick, this is the wrong postcode: Shoreditch and Clerkenwell are fifteen minutes north for a good deal less.

The ceiling is 166 people in one office, and the floor is a single desk. The middle of that range is best supplied, with a lot of stock between ten and sixty desks, reflecting the professional firms that dominate the area. Very large single floors exist but are more plentiful at Moorgate and Liverpool Street, where the buildings are newer and bigger. The advantage of Bank at the smaller end is choice: with twenty-three operators inside a few hundred metres, a team of ten has genuinely different options to compare, which is not true in thinner areas.

Above about twenty-five desks it becomes worth modelling, though less often than in the newer parts of the City. Managed space means your own floor, fitted to your design, on a longer commitment and at a lower cost per desk. The constraint at Bank is the buildings: period stock with irregular floors is more expensive to fit out and less efficient once done, so the saving against serviced is smaller than it would be at Moorgate. For a firm that wants its own front door in the Square Mile it can still be the right answer, but run the numbers on the specific floor rather than on the general principle.
