Peckham Levels is an iconic former multi-storey car park, owned by Southwark Council, on a strategic site next to Peckham Rye station. In 2017 the building was refitted by Carl Turner Architects to create a 94,000 square foot campus providing 90 studios, coworking, retail units, a food court and a venue for live performances.
The building hosts a vibrant community of startups, artists and social enterprises; as well as a satellite campus for University of the Arts London. Having taken over operation of the site on Tuesday 28th August, The Trampery has offered new licences to all occupiers, matching previous rent levels. All occupiers have been offered a two week rent-free period to cover the transition.
As part of its operating strategy for Peckham Levels, The Trampery has entered a service level agreement with Southwark Council which mandates a wide spectrum of community benefits. This includes business support and discounted or free space for local organisations. The community impact delivered at the campus is monitored by a steering group, which includes Councillors and local people.
In parallel with The Trampery taking day-to-day responsibility for Peckham Levels, Southwark Council is developing a long-term plan for the building to ensure it meets the community’s needs for decades to come. Southwark Council has also commissioned a survey assessing the social value delivered by Peckham Levels. In 2023, Peckham Levels’ critical role in the local community was recognised with its listing as an Asset of Community Value.
