Office space in London: your questions answered
How much does a coworking desk cost in London?
The median listed desk is £300 per person per month as at October 2026. Listed prices run from about £100 for a part-time hot desk to £900 for a dedicated desk in a central building with round the clock access. For comparison, a private office in London has a median of £517 per desk per month, so a coworking desk is roughly half the cost of a desk behind a door.
What is the difference between a hot desk, a dedicated desk and a private office?
A hot desk is any free seat in the shared area, taken on the day; the cheapest way in, and the right one if you are in two or three days a week. A dedicated desk is the same desk every day, with a locker or a drawer, and costs more because nobody else uses it. A private office is a lockable room inside the same building, priced per desk and listed under office space rather than coworking. If your team needs to take calls all day or leave equipment out, a dedicated desk is the minimum and a private office is usually the answer.
What does a London coworking membership include?
The desk, fast internet, use of the kitchen and breakout space, printing and a share of the meeting rooms, all on one monthly figure. Most memberships include some meeting room hours and charge for more, so ask how many are in the price and what an extra hour costs. Postal address and phone answering are extras with some operators and included with others. Round the clock access is usual for dedicated desks and not always for hot desks.
Where in London are the coworking desks?
The desks listed with us cluster north and south of the centre rather than in the City: Finsbury Park, King's Cross and Camden to the north, Southwark, London Bridge and Kennington to the south, with Kensington and Victoria to the west. The large coworking brands mostly sell memberships through their own sites and list their private offices with us, which is why this page is shorter than the London office space page and why the operators here are mostly independents such as The Trampery, Runway East and The Boutique Workplace Company.
How quickly can I start, and how long am I tied in?
Usually within the week. A coworking membership needs no fit out and no long agreement: a viewing, a monthly membership and a deposit of a month at most, and most operators let you try a day first. Memberships roll monthly, with a month's notice to leave. If the building you want has only one or two desks listed, ask whether it is still free before you visit, because the smaller sites fill quickly.
